Ionic Tin
Tin has been considered to be an essential trace element for some
animals since 1960 when rats reared on tin free diets were found
to have retarded growth. The addition of 1mg of tin sulphate to
each kilogram of their diet restored normal growth.
The functions of tin in animals is believed to be:
1. Stimulating the transcription of RNA and DNA which determines
gene characteristics.
2. Protein synthesis through RNA.
3. Body growth. It has not been established that these properties
exist in humans.
